Cool Things Down: A Free MP3 Download

Thanks for visiting my site. Here’s a free download.

Cool Things Down was written in 2007 and is about a hot and steamy relationship that slips off the rails. Special thanks to Rachel Z for her excellent keyboard work, Paul Winsor on bass, Sam from Saratoga on drums, and Carrie of Caravan of Thieves for her harmony on the chorus.

Thunderheads billow upward
In a hot blue sky
Birds sitting on the wires
Getting ready to fly
The rain it’s a coming
It will cool things down
It will cool things down

We could weather this storm together
Lie low in the brush
We could hold our ground right here
Leave love to rust
The rain it’s a coming
It will cool things down
It will cool things down

When you hear the sound
The sound of thunder
Don’t you runaway
Give it one more day
Cause Baby
When it rains
It will cool things down

Birds fly south for the winter
They know where, they know when
You and I know how to be lovers
Don’t know how to be friends
The rain it’s a coming
It will cool things down
It will cool things down

When you hear the sound
The sound of thunder
Don’t you runaway
Give it one more day
Cause Baby
When it rains
It will cool things down

Thunderheads billow upward
In a hot blue sky

That’s Cleo next to the custom Martin. They only made 24 of those guitars, but there was only one Cleo, my little peach. She passed away in 2011, but often hung out in the studio when I was recording.

Gerry McKeveny and Paul Winsor in action at ATG Studios. Paul played bass on this track. Although Gerry appears on many of my recorded songs, he is not on this track. I play all the guitars.
